Performance Engineer
Here at Sauber – a historic Formula 1 Team, we are expanding as part of our return to the front of the grid.
Within the Trackside Engineering Department, we have a rare opportunity as a Performance Engineer.
The Role:
As a Performance, you will be expected to:
- Identify main car limitation and support car development in the short (race-by-race basis) and medium (season basis) term.
- Support car setup definition between simulator and, Pre, In and Post event activities.
- Analyze car data to provide quantifiable and data-driven recommendations for improving car performance.
- Work closely with Race/Performance engineers at the Track or at Factory to operate and race the Formula1 car.
- Support development of new data analysis methodologies for implementation in Sauber data science framework.
- Provide flexible Support during the Test/Race Events and be self-motivated to spot errors and actively make changes in processes and day-to-day Track Engineering activities.
- Actively lead your projects in close co-operation with the other relevant departments such as Aerodynamics, Vehicle Performance, and Systems Engineering.
Who are we looking for:
- F1 experience (3 to 5 years) at a Performance Engineer level, ideally experience in Vehicle Dynamics with a broad understanding of Tyre Engineering, Simulation, and Aero Performance.
- Someone with a proven track record in using MATLAB and Python, and Data Analysis tools such as ATLAS.
- An individual with excellent technical, organisational, communication skills and the ability to deliver information and reports on time.
- A committed and enthusiastic team player with a positive attitude and the drive to succeed.
- Someone who thrives under pressure, loves competition and is eager to take on new challenges.
- Someone with good English language skills (oral and written).
