A team devoted to our planet and our communities

VISION

Sustainability as an integral part of our company

The Sauber Group doesn’t exist in a bubble, but it is part of the cultural, social and environmental fabric of our region and the wider world. Social and ecological responsibility have always played an important part of our corporate culture. Under the Corporate Social Responsibility umbrella, we include all the voluntary contributions our business makes to sustainable development, beyond the legal requirements.

Sustainability conveys greater ambition because it focuses on what we need to achieve, rather than where we are today. Our sustainability efforts are focused on two main elements – the environment and the community we live and operate in.

Sustainability

ENVIRONMENT

The principle of climate action is one of the key tenets of our strategy. By supporting climate action, we aim to calculate our CO2 emissions and reduce our carbon footprint. Every activity in support of a climate protection project is an immediate measure against a warming planet.

Our environmental effort is based on a two-step approach:

  1. Decarbonisation
  2. Waste management & recycling

The Sauber Group has known its CO2 footprint, having acted to reduce it since 2011. Among the actions taken to compensate for it, since 2014 the company supported forest and reforestation projects around the world.

THE SAUBER GROUP IS CERTIFIED ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS) and provides a framework that an organization can follow.

This milestone is a key part in our sustainability strategy, which is aligned with the FIA, and includes:

  • Improving resource efficiency
  • Driving down costs, reducing waste
  • Measuring environmental impact
  • Gaining competitive advantages in supply chain design
  • Increasing new business opportunities
  • Managing environmental obligations with consistency.

COMMUNITY

The world we live in is increasingly interconnected, with each actor playing an important role in the development of our society. However, we are far too often witnesses to inequality and lack of opportunity – an injustice with far-reaching consequences not just for the individuals involved, but for our society as a whole. It is therefore crucial that our strategy encompasses efforts to address these issues.

The two, complementary aspects of our Community strategy are:

  1. Social development
  2. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Save the Children – Official Charity partner

For a century, Save the Children has advocated children’s rights around the globe. The children’s rights organisation is working on projects in Switzerland and worldwide to ensure that children survive, learn and grow up in a protected environment.

During the five years of the team’s partnership with Save the Children, we helped our Official Charity Partner raise vital funds through charity events, partners’ activities and auctions of team and driver items.

Sauber Technologies - Certified to ISO 9001

ISO 9001 sets out the criteria for a quality management system. This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. Using ISO 9001 helps ensure that Sauber Technologies customers get consistent, good-quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits.

Committed to Diversity & Inclusion

The Sauber Group is committed to inclusivity – not just by hiring personnel based on their talent, without discrimination, but also by promoting skills in a wide range of individuals, regardless of their background and origin.

Our international workforce features employees from all continents, attracted to our base in Switzerland by the opportunity to work in a competitive environment at the forefront of innovation. This multi-lingual, multi-cultural group is, by virtue of its composition, one that fosters inclusivity and the sharing of knowledge for the betterment of the company and the community we work in.

Similarly, our commitment to promoting talent has seen a growing number of women join the team and progress to key positions – heading departments and leading teams both trackside and back at HQ. Since May 2021, we are recipients of the “We Pay Fair” certificate by the Competence Centre for Diversity & Inclusion of the University of St. Gallen, following an in-depth analysis of the salary gap between men and women and between employees of different national origin. We continue to look at ways to improve the inclusivity of our team and we are committed to making our company a safe, equitable place of work for all employees, irrespective of any individual circumstances.

2024 Bike to Work Challenge: A Successful Group Ride

In the spirit of our 2024 Bike to Work Challenge, 15 enthusiastic employees came together to organise a memorable group ride of 36 kilometres through the scenic beauty surrounding our headquarters. Blessed with perfect weather, our team-mates enjoyed the opportunity to connect with colleagues, boost team spirit and embrace a healthy, active lifestyle. The event was a resounding success, with glowing feedback from everyone involved - and it showed just one of the many ways to enjoy cycling as part of a healthier lifestyle.
